Spencer Boyd will return to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series with Young’s Motorsports in 2023, Young’s announced Jan. 4.
“I want last season back,” Boyd said in a team release. “We had great chemistry on the [No.] 12 team and showed speed early on. To make a long story short, we didn’t end up with the year we wanted and we are set out to put it all in the rear-view mirror with this season.”
In 22 starts, Boyd scored a best finish of 11th in the season-opening race at Daytona International Speedway.
Boyd will drive the No. 12, with Freedom Warranty one of its sponsors, returning at Daytona.
“We are quite optimistic about this coming year,” team runner Tyler Young added. “There were plenty of discussions in the off-season on what we have to do to get better on the track. One thing we knew is that Spencer was going to be a part of it. He’s now driven more races than I have for our family team and earned our first win, so he’s naturally going to be part of our resolution to be more competitive.”
In 88 Truck starts since 2016, Boyd has one win, two top fives and three top 10s.
Boyd is the first driver to be announced to the Young’s stable in 2023. In 2022, alongside the No. 12, the team also fielded the Nos. 20 and 02 full time.
