AJ Allmendinger will start from the pole in the NASCAR Xfinity Series’ Drive for the Cure 250 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL after going 102.235 mph in the second round of qualifying Saturday (Oct. 8).
It’s the No. 16 Kaulig Racing driver’s fourth pole of the season. Allmendinger was class of the field throughout both practice and qualifying, topping the charts in each session.
Ty Gibbs will start alongside Allmendinger on the front row, while Daniel Hemric and Sheldon Creed make up the second row. JR Motorsports’ Justin Allgaier rounds out the top five.
Allgaier’s teammate Sam Mayer begins sixth, and the third Kaulig driver, Landon Cassill, starts seventh. Austin Hill, Sage Karam and Jeremy Clements round out the top 10 in the lineup.
Brandon Jones was second quickest in practice but starts the race in 15th. Other notable drivers are James Davison in 16th, Daniil Kvyat in 24th and Marco Andretti in 30th.
Noah Gragson starts 37th after crashing during practice. Kris Wright’s Brandonbilt Motorsports team had to change a transmission and he’ll start last.
Austin Wayne Self, Gray Gaulding and Brennan Poole did not qualify for the race.
