Joey Logano Extends With Penske for 2023 & Beyond

Joey Logano and Team Penske have agreed on a long-term contract extension in the NASCAR Cup Series, the team announced Aug. 24.

The exact length of the extension was not announced.

“Over the last 10 years, Joey has become such an important part of Team Penske and we know he will continue to be a leader and a winner with the No. 22 Ford team well into the future,” team owner Roger Penske said in a team release. “Joey is a great champion of our sport, and we are proud of how he continues to produce for our team and represent all of our partners, including Shell, Pennzoil and Ford. He also brings veteran leadership to our program, serving as a great mentor and teammate to both Ryan (Blaney) and Austin (Cindric). With all he has achieved in his career, he still has a lot left to accomplish with Team Penske.”

“Since taking over the No. 22 car at Team Penske, I’ve had the opportunity to accomplish so many of my dreams both on and off the track.” Logano added. “For the last 10 years, Roger has provided me the resources to be competitive, a team that stands behind me and leadership that is second to none. I’m excited to be continuing our relationship together so we can keep focusing on winning races, more championships and doing what we do for many years to come.”

Logano has amassed 27 Cup Series wins since moving to Penske in 2013, and so far in the 2022 season, he has obtained two wins, seven top fives and 11 top 10s.

Logano joins Blaney as recently reupped drivers in the Penske camp. Cindric’s status after 2022 is not yet known.

interesting both Blaney and Logano’s announcements did not include the duration of contract. As for Cindric, doubtful he is going anywhere. Austin’s father is Tim Cindric and he has been with Penske for years!

No surprise there. Logano is in his prime and good for at least a couple of wins a year.

I don’t always love the way the guy drives, but I’m happy we get to see him do it for the foreseeable future. He’s been a top 5 driver in the sport since 2014(excluding ’17) and will likely be a title threat till he retires. The Captain is locking up the future of his team.

Also, who would’ve thought that Logano leaving JGR would be the best move he made?

Leaving Reverend Joe is always a good idea before becoming a self-absorbed entitled one.
