Layne Riggs, son of former NASCAR driver Scott Riggs, will attempt his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series debut for Halmar Friesen Racing, HFR announced July 19.
Riggs will drive the No. 62 at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park, followed by a second event at Richmond Raceway.
“I have been racing competitively and successfully since I was 10,” Riggs said in a team release. “After nine years of earning my spurs on the CARS Tour and six years in the NASCAR Late Model Stock Car Series, I am confident that I am ready for the next step in my racing career.”
Riggs, 20, boasts six wins in 67 CARS starts since 2016.
His dad won four NASCAR Xfinity Series races and five Truck events during his career, which stretched from 1999 to 2014 in NASCAR’s national ranks.
HFR’s No. 62 has been driven by Jessica Friesen and Todd Bodine in 2022. Its best finish came at Darlington Raceway, when Bodine finished 10th.
