Chase Elliott will line up from the pole in the NASCAR Cup Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Rain and wet weather delayed qualifying and eventually caused it to be canceled; as a result, the lineup was set by a metric formula.
Elliott currently leads the points standings over Ryan Blaney; he finished second at Road America last week.
Ross Chastain slots in second next to Elliott on the front row, while Elliott’s Hendrick Motorsports teammate Kyle Larson takes third. Road America winner Tyler Reddick is fourth and Austin Cindric rounds out the top five.
Blaney, Daniel Suarez, Alex Bowman, Martin Truex Jr. and Kevin Harvick fill out positions six through 10 in the starting lineup, respectively.
A metric formula was used to form the lineup, adding four categories: driver’s finishing position from previous race (25%), car owner’s finishing position (25%), team owner’s rank in points (35%) and fastest lap from previous race (15%).
