Pierre Gasly is remaining with Scuderia AlphaTauri through 2023 in Formula 1, the team announced June 24.
The Frenchman is currently in his fifth full-time season with the team, which was previously known as Toro Rosso before switching to AlphaTauri in 2020.
“I have been with this team for five years now and I am proud of the journey we’ve been through together and the progress we have made,” Gasly said in a team release. “I’m happy to remain with my Scuderia AlphaTauri team. This year’s new regulations have created new challenges for us and being able to plan our development with the team for the next 18 months is a good working basis for the future.”
Gasly earned his season best finish of fifth in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. He’s currently ranked 11th in the point standings.
In his career, he has one victory in Monza at the Italian Grand Prix in 2020. He also has three total podium finishes.
The next race on the F1 calendar is the British Grand Prix on July 3. It will air at 10 a.m. ET on ESPN2.
