Reaume Brothers Racing development driver and former employee Stephen Mallozzi will attempt to make his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series debut at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, the team announced June 23.
Mallozzi is the inaugural driver of RBR’s development program, which was formed in 2021. A former karting driver, Mallozzi will look to his road course experience to help him at the truck series’ debut at the track.
“You know, breaking into motorsports in general is impossible, and I am so grateful for people in racing like Josh [Reaume, owner of RBR] who continuously give drivers opportunities,” Mallozzi said in a team release.
According to the release, Mallozzi has been determined to attempt his NASCAR debut ever since his father was diagnosed with terminal cancer and forced him out of kart racing.
“Growing up in karting and wanting to be a race car driver, your dad is very much your best friend, driver coach, agent, and sponsor,” Reaume said. “To be able to help Malozz [sic] achieve this goal in light of the circumstances will most likely be the highlight of my year. Mid-Ohio will be a weekend in which I will be so proud to be Stephen’s owner.”
Mallozzi will drive the No. 43, which has been piloted by several drivers this season, most recently by Devon Rouse at Knoxville Raceway, where he came home 30th.
The truck race at Mid-Ohio will air on Saturday, July 9 at 1:30 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1.
