John Hunter Nemechek Scores 3rd Consecutive Truck Series Pole at Texas

John Hunter Nemechek won the pole for the last two races at Darlington Raceway and Kansas Speedway, and he did it again today (May 20) at Texas Motor Speedway.

With a speed of 182.359 mph, Nemechek edged out Kyle Busch Motorsports teammate Corey Heim towards the end of qualifying to claim the top spot for the third consecutive week.

Nemechek enters tonight’s race as the defending winner, and he will seek his second win of the season and his second at Texas in the Truck Series.

Stewart Friesen qualified behind the KBM duo in third, while Christian Eckes qualified fourth.

Ryan Preece was the highest qualifying Ford in fifth, while Preece’s David Gilliland Racing teammate Hailie Deegan qualified alongside him in sixth place, her highest starting spot in a race with traditional qualifying.

Chandler Smith rounded out the KBM trio in seventh while defending champion and current point leader Ben Rhodes qualified eighth. Derek Kraus was the fastest Chevrolet in ninth, and Ty Majeski rounded out the top 10.

There was one incident in qualifying, as Colby Howard lost control and backed into the turn 2 before completing his qualifying lap.

Armani Williams, Chris Hacker, Matt DiBenedetto and Lawless Alan did not attempt a lap during qualifying. With 38 entries and 36 spots, Garrett Smithley and Williams were the two drivers that failed to qualify.
