Stefan Wilson will pilot an entry for the 2022 Indianapolis 500 in a joint venture between Cusick Motorsports and DragonSpeed, Cusick announced May 5.
Wilson will drive the No. 25 Chevrolet with sponsorship from LOHLA SPORT, Sierra Pacific Windows and GNARLY. Equipment for the entry will be provided by AJ Foyt Racing.
“The journey to the 2022 Indianapolis 500 has been a rollercoaster ride for Cusick Motorsports, our partners and myself,” Wilson said in a team release. “A few short weeks ago it didn’t look like this was going to happen for us, but I’m so relieved all of the pieces came together to get another shot at this race. The Cusick Motorsports and DragonSpeed partnership couldn’t be a better fit and I know it’ll be a great combination for Indy this year, as well as for future opportunities. I’m also looking forward to joining Team Chevy and wearing a bow-tie this month.”
Wilson ran the No. 25 in the 2021 Indy 500 for Andretti Autosport, finishing last after an early crash.
The entry marks a return to the NTT IndyCar Series for DragonSpeed, which last competed in the Indy 500 in 2020 with Ben Hanley, who finished 23rd.
