Santino Ferrucci will step in for Jack Harvey in the NTT IndyCar Series race at Texas Motor Speedway, Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing announced on Sunday (March 20).
Harvey was not cleared to race following a crash in practice Saturday in the No.45.
“Jack Harvey has not been cleared to drive by the INDYCAR medical team following his crash in yesterday’s final practice for the XPEL 375 at Texas Motor Speedway,” RLL said in a statement on Twitter. “He was checked and released by INDYCAR but after reevaluation on Sunday, the team was advised that he would not be cleared to participate in today’s race.”
The struggles continue for @RLLracing.
The yellow flag is out @TxMotorSpeedway after this incident involving @jack_harvey45.

“Hey guys, some not great news,” Harvey said in a video on Twitter. “Some of you may have seen in practice two we had a pretty tasty impact with the wall. I got checked and released following the incident yesterday, came for reevaluation this morning and was not cleared to drive today, which that level of disappointment and devastation for me is no doubt the worst for it. I’ve never been in this situation before, so I’m hoping not to be again. I’ll spend obviously the next week or so doing whatever it takes to recover and just be in good form in Long Beach.”
Harvey finished 13th on the Streets of St. Petersburg, Fla. last month in his first race with RLL.
Ferrucci ran five races for RLL in 2021 and recorded a best finish of sixth in the Indianapolis 500 and at the Raceway at Belle Isle.
The race airs Sunday at 12:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
