JR Hildebrand is back in the NTT IndyCar Series, joining AJ Foyt Racing on the oval courses this season, the team announced March 11.
Hildebrand hops in the No. 11 starting at Texas Motor Speedway on March 20 and will race in the Indianapolis 500, at Iowa Speedway’s doubleheader and at World Wide Technology Raceway.
“I’m excited to have this opportunity to get back in the car, do a little more racing, and work with the AJ Foyt Racing squad again,” Hildebrand said in a team release. “Although the results may not have looked special on paper, I was really impressed by what we accomplished last year at the 500 and look forward to attacking these other ovals on the IndyCar schedule alongside Kyle [Kirkwood] and Dalton [Kellett].”
It’s an increase in schedule from the past few seasons, as he ran just the Indy 500 each year from 2018-2021.
The Californian has 66 IndyCar starts and has earned three podiums, with his best finish of second coming in the 2011 Indy 500 and at Iowa in 2017.
Tatiana Calderon will drive the car on the road and street courses.
The race at Texas is set to begin on March 20 at 12:30 p.m. ET and will air on NBC.
