It was a tough NASCAR Cup Series practice session for Las Vegas native Kyle Busch as he crashed his primary car early in final practice for Sunday’s (March 6) Pennzoil 400. Meanwhile, Auto Club Speedway winner Kyle Larson set the fastest lap with under five minutes to go to top the board in the final tune-up before the second race of the West Coast Swing for 2022.
Larson’s lap clocked in at 181.184 mph (29.804 seconds) in his No. 5 Hendrick Cars Chevrolet. Rounding out the top five were Christopher Bell, Ryan Blaney, William Byron and Joey Logano.
Alex Bowman, Tyler Reddick, Chase Elliott, Daniel Hemric and Ross Chastain completed the top 10 in practice.
Busch finished 12th on the practice board before the wreck, but he will have to go to a backup car and will start at the rear of the field for . It is reported that Busch’s backup car is a salvage car for the West Coast Swing.
