Ernie Francis Jr., after finishing second in Superstar Racing Experience points last season, announced on Tuesday (Feb. 22)’s episode of The Dale Jr. Download he would be returning to the series.
“I’m not going to be running the whole year, but I am going to be running a few races out there,” Francis said.
Francis’ focus for 2022 will be on his new Indy Lights ride with Force Indy. That series has a same weekend conflict with the third (Stafford Speedway) and sixth (Sharon Speedway) races on the SRX calendar.
“I’m super excited to get out there and run it again. It [was] so much fun out there last year,” Francis told podcast hosts Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Mike Davis.
Francis is the third driver to state that they will be competing in SRX’s second season this summer. Tony Kanaan told Autoweek in January that he would be returning for all six races, while 2022 Daytona 500 starter Greg Biffle told Frontstretch last week that he may be full time this year after making a couple cameo appearances in the first season.
