Corey Heim had a breakout year in 2021, as he won six races, finished second in points and recorded top 10 finishes in all 20 races during last year’s ARCA Menards Series season — and picked up right where he left off last fall, as he recorded a speed of 183.113 mph during qualifying to secure the pole position for Saturday’s 2022 season opener at Daytona International Speedway.
Heim, who won this event one year ago, will be looking to go back-to-back when the green flag flies Saturday, Feb. 19.
Gus Dean will join Heim on the front row, and he will be seeking his third career ARCA win and his first at Daytona.
Parker Chase qualified third, while Mason Diaz and Sean Corr completed the top five. All three of them will be seeking their first ARCA win.
Further back, Greg Van Alst will start sixth, Tim Richmond seventh, Willie Mullins eighth, Chuck Hiers ninth and Drew Dollar — who won at Talladega Superspeedway in 2020 — will round out the top 10.
Daniel Dye, who picked up his first career win at Berlin Raceway last summer, will start 14th.
There were 36 entries for the race, but only 35 competed in qualifying, as Benny Chastain did not make an attempt at a qualifying lap. Although 37 drivers were on the entry list, the No. 02 with Chuck Walker behind the wheel, withdrew. With only 36 competitors, every driver qualified for the race.
