Howie DiSavino III will move to the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2022, driving a partial schedule for Alpha Prime Racing, APR announced Jan. 26.
“I am very excited to race with Alpha Prime Racing,” DiSavino said in a team release. “I think we will have a great season together. It has been a dream come true to race in the Xfinity Series. Tommy Joe [Martins, team co-owner] is giving me that shot to make my dream come true. I couldn’t thank everyone at Alpha Prime enough for this opportunity.”
DiSavino’s first race with the team will be at Phoenix Raceway in March.
“A big part of the growth of Alpha Prime Racing will be how well we can develop young drivers,” Martins said. “I’m thankful that Howie, his family, his sponsors, and his mentor and manager Austin Theriault believe in what we’re doing here and are giving us that chance. We want to give him the opportunity to grow and be successful.”
APR is fielding the Nos. 44 and 45 full time in 2022.
DiSavino made five NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts in 2021, all for Jordan Anderson Racing. His best result came at Pocono Raceway, where he finished 22nd.
DiSavino also boasts six ARCA Menards Series starts, including two top 10s.
