Ryan Vargas is running the NASCAR Xfinity Series season with JD Motorsports with Gary Keller yet again in 2022, JDM announced Jan. 19.
It will be Vargas’ second full season with the team.
“I’m very excited for this opportunity to race for JD Motorsports again in a full-time capacity,” Vargas said in a team release. “Johnny (Davis, owner) and his entire team have believed in me since day one and have become almost an extended family at this point, and I’m ready to hit the track and put everything I have into this campaign.
“I spent many years as a fan of this organization; watching the red cars fight against the big dogs; and I hope to bring that same excitement to the track and show the NASCAR fan base what this team is all about.”
No car number was discussed in the release, but Vargas largely drove the No. 6 for JDM in 2021.
Vargas made 29 starts with JDM in 2021, with a best finish of 14th at Atlanta Motor Speedway. He also drove 12 races for the team between 2019 and 2020, earning one top 10, an eighth at Texas Motor Speedway in 2020.
JDM has announced two drivers to its lineup for 2022 so far, with Vargas joined by Bayley Currey.
