Kris Wright Joining Niece Motorsports

Kris Wright will move to Niece Motorsports for 2022 in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, the team announced Dec. 7.

Wright will drive the No. 44 full time.

“I’m looking forward to joining the Niece Motorsports organization in 2022,” Wright said in a team release.  “I learned a lot last year that I think will be beneficial next season.  I’m appreciative of Al Niece for allowing me the opportunity to race and represent his organization.  The team is working hard to prepare for 2022.  I’m ready to get the season started.”

Added Niece GM Cody Efaw: “As a group we are really excited about the direction our organization is heading, going into the 2022 season. Kris is an important piece of that puzzle, so we are happy to have him join the team.  I think the four drivers we have set for the 2022 season will complement each other well and work well together.  We have big expectations next season and we’re working hard to get there.”

Wright joins fellow full-timers Carson Hocevar, Dean Thompson and Lawless Alan at Niece in 2022.

Sponsorship for Wright’s effort was not revealed at press time.

In 2021, Wright drove 16 Truck races, all for Young’s Motorsports in its No. 02. His best finish was 12th in the season-opening race at Daytona International Speedway.

The announcement solidifies 2021 Niece driver Ryan Truex‘s move from the organization; his 2022 plans have not yet been revealed.
