Andy Lally is set to join Alpha Prime Racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2022, the team confirmed to TobyChristie.com Nov. 1.
APR, formerly Martins Motorsports, plans to field Lally in all six road course races in 2022.
“I can’t wait to get started,” Lally told TobyChristie.com. “Caesar (Bacarella, co-owner and fellow driver) has been on me the past few months about what they’ve got going on with APR and how he wanted me to get involved. After spending some time at the shop and getting to know Tommy Joe (Martins, co-owner and fellow driver) a bit, I can tell they’re serious.”
The Northport, N.Y., native has made 18 career NXS starts, with a best finish of fifth on four separate occasions. He joins previously announced APR drivers that include Martins, Bacarella and Rajah Caruth. Lally’s car number for his starts were not specified; APR’s full-time car will be the No. 44.
The 46-year-old has made five starts in 2021 between BJ McLeod Motorsports and Our Motorsports. He has earned one top five and two top 10s, with a best finish of fifth at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
Sponsorship for Lally will be announced at a later date, and additional starts are a possibility.
