Greg Zipadelli to Crew Chief for Kevin Harvick at Talladega

Veteran crew chief Greg Zipadelli is listed to return to the top of the pit box at Talladega Superspeedway this Sunday, Oct. 3, for the No. 4 Stewart-Haas Racing Ford of Kevin Harvick.

Zipadelli, who currently serves as the Vice President of Competition for SHR, will replace full-time crew chief Rodney Childers after the former was suspended for one race for failing to secure two lug nuts during post-race inspection at Las Vegas Motor Speedway last weekend.

The former full-time crew chief has 34 total Cup Series wins while sitting on top the pit box. Thirty-three of those victories were with SHR team owner Tony Stewart.

Zipadelli’s most recent tenure as a Cup Series crew chief came with Clint Bowyer at the second Richmond Cup race in 2020 where the team finished 10th. In the Xfinity Series last year, “Zippy” earned three wins in four starts with current Cup Series rookie Chase Briscoe.

Harvick currently sits 10th in the playoff standings, only seven points behind the cutoff line heading into this weekend’s race. Harvick finished fourth at Talladega in the spring.
