AJ Allmendinger is on the pole for the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course Saturday (Aug. 14).
The No. 16 Kaulig Racing driver went under 90 seconds in a single lap in the final round to take the top spot. His lap speed of 97.744 mph was over three-tenths of a second faster than Austin Cindric, who will join Allmendinger on the front row.
Allmendinger’s teammate Justin Haley starts third after posting a lap speed of 97.389 mph. JR Motorsports’ Justin Allgaier begins fourth and was the final driver faster than 97 mph. Ty Gibbs, who was quickest in round one, qualified in fifth.
Riley Herbst starts sixth, Noah Gragson is seventh and Myatt Snider eighth. Will Rodgers and Preston Pardus complete the top 10 in the lineup.
Chase Elliott, who is subbing for Michael Annett today, qualified 25th. James Davison hopped in the No. 5 car of BJ McLeod Motorsports in place of Kyle Tilley, who has a shoulder injury.
Ryan Eversley, Stephen Leicht, Mike Skeen, Loris Hezemans, Georgio Romero Maggi, Gray Gaulding, Matt Jaskol and Bayley Currey all did not qualify for today’s race.
