Riley Herbst Grabs Xfinity Pole at Charlotte

Riley Herbst won his first NASCAR Xfinity Series pole for Saturday’s (May 29) race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The No. 98 Stewart-Haas Racing driver put down a fast lap of 183.986 mph during qualifying. He was also quickest in Friday’s practice session.

Chase Briscoe will start next to Herbst on the front row, going 181.653 mph. Joe Gibbs Racing’s Daniel Hemric qualified third with a 181.123 mph lap while Austin Cindric begins fourth as the final driver going over 180 mph. Kaulig Racing’s AJ Allmendinger rounds out the top five.

Jeremy Clements’ No. 51 went 179.42 mph to hold the sixth spot, while Myatt Snider’s No. 2 of Richard Childress Racing was seventh fastest. Ty Gibbs, Jeb Burton and Ty Dillon complete the top 10 qualifiers.

Joe Graf Jr., Kyle Weatherman, Bayley Currey, Dillon Bassett, David Starr, Gray Gaulding and BJ McLeod did not qualify for the race.
