Riley Herbst Tops Xfinity Practice at Charlotte

After light rain showers delayed the start of the NASCAR Xfinity Series practice at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Riley Herbst ended as the fastest driver in Friday’s (May 28) session.

Herbst went 178.436 mph to go to the top of the board early in the shortened period. Joe Gibbs Racing’s Daniel Hemric was second quickest, going 178.33 mph. AJ Allmendinger’s No. 16 Kaulig Racing car was third with a 177.678 mph lap. Hemric’s JGR teammates Ty Gibbs and Brandon Jones went fourth and fifth-quickest.

Austin Cindric was sixth, Chase Briscoe’s No. 99 car of B.J. McLeod Motorsports was seventh and Dillon Bassett was eighth fastest. Harrison Burton and Ty Dillon finished up the top 10 in the session.

Noah Gragson had the best 10-lap average of 172.277 mph out of four drivers.

There were no issues with any cars; rain did bring out the red flag just before practice ended.

Xfinity Practice Results at Charlotte

Qualifying for the Alsco Uniforms 300 is set to air on Saturday at 10:05 a.m. ET, with the race following a few hours later at 1 p.m. ET. Both will air on FOX Sports 1.
