Denny Hamlin Starting on Cup Pole at Atlanta

Denny Hamlin will start from the pole in Sunday’s (March 21) NASCAR Cup Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

The current points leader acquired the position after finishing third last week at Phoenix Raceway.

His Joe Gibbs Racing stablemate Martin Truex Jr., who won last Sunday, will join Hamlin on the front row. Team Penske’s Joey Logano and Brad Keselowski begin third and fourth, while Chase Elliott rounds out the top five starters.

Las Vegas Motor Speedway victor Kyle Larson starts sixth and Kevin Harvick rolls out seventh. Christopher Bell, William Byron and Ryan Blaney complete the top 10 in the lineup.

The lineup was created using a performance metrics formula combining four weighted categories: 25% driver’s finishing position, 25% owner’s finishing position, 15% fastest lap from Phoenix and 35% team owner point rankings.

Cup Starting Lineup for Atlanta

The Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 airs on Sunday, March 21 at 3 p.m. ET on FOX and PRN radio.
