IndyCar’s Season Opener Pushed Back a Week

The season-opening race in the 2021 NTT IndyCar Series has been pushed back a week.

The series’ Barber Motorsports Park race will now be run on April 18, Gene Hallman, Bruno’s president/CEO said, according to IndyStar.

Barber’s move comes after the 2021 season’s original opening race at St. Petersburg was moved from March to April 25.

According to IndyStar, the Barber switch is meant to allow the event to be broadcast on NBC instead of NBC Sports Network, rather than being a COVID-19-related change, as was the case with St. Petersburg.
