Starting Lineup Procedures Announced for Upcoming Races

The starting lineup and pit stall procedures for upcoming NASCAR races at Bristol Motor Speedway, Atlanta Motor Speedway, Martinsville Speedway, Homestead-Miami Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway were announced Wednesday, May 27, by NASCAR.

Starting lineups from most races will be based on a random draw similar to what was used at Darlington Raceway and Charlotte Motor Speedway. Finishing positions 1-15 from the June 13 Xfinity Series race at Homestead will invert for the next day’s race. Those who end 16-40 will keep their positions.

Pit stall selections will be based on where drivers finish in each race prior. For example, the pit selection order at Bristol’s Cup Series event is based on the results from Wednesday’s (May 27) race at Charlotte.

There will only be one Cup practice session in these set of races. It’s set to run from 11:35 a.m.-12:25 p.m. ET on Saturday, June 20 at Talladega.

Full procedures for the races can be found here.

The Supermarket Heroes 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway is scheduled for Sunday, May 31 at 3:30 p.m. ET and will air on Fox Sports 1.
