Scag Power Equipment has joined Front Row Motorsports for this weekend’s race at Darlington Raceway and beyond, partnering with the team to sponsor John Hunter Nemechek‘s No. 38 Ford Mustang in NASCAR’s return to action.
The lawn mower manufacturer will be on Nemechek’s car in the NASCAR Cup Series’ first races since the coronavirus postponement, according to an FRM press release on Tuesday (May 12). The No. 38 will sport the company’s black-and-orange livery on the Darlington races on Sunday, May 17, and Wednesday, May 20.
“We’ve been tasked with a huge responsibility, carrying the world of live sports into a new normal,” Nemechek said in the statement. “Our goal this weekend is to return to racing as safely as possible. Being able team up with a new partner such as Scag Power Equipment at Darlington gives us added motivation to restart the season on a positive note. Our No. 38 team is ready to work hard and perform at the top level, just like Scag’s mowers.”
The company has produced lawn mowers since 1983, but sponsoring Nemechek isn’t its first foray into motorsports. Scag previously acted as a presenting sponsor for the ARCA Midwest Tour in previous years.
Nemechek has a best finish of 11th so far in 2020, his only top-20 finish in four races coming at Daytona International Speedway.
The green flag will waive on the Darlington 400 shortly after 3:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, May 17.
