The entry list has been released for Saturday’s (April 4) second round of the INDYCAR iRacing Challenge at virtual Barber Motorsports Park.
This week, 29 drivers are entered in the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama presented by AmFirst, four more than last week’s event at Watkins Glen International. Sage Karam dominated that event, leading 43 of 45 laps to score the victory.
The race will have drivers from the NTT IndyCar Series as well as seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson, who finished 16th in the series opener.
Among notable entries, Robert Wickens is set to return to racing in the No. 5 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet. Wickens is still rehabbing from serious injuries suffered in the August 2018 INDYCAR event held at Pocono Raceway.
Also, Scott Dixon joins the field in the No. 9 Honda for Chip Ganassi Racing. Another new iRacing face is Jack Harvey, who will pilot the No. 60 car. Three-time Indianapolis 500 champion Ed Carpenter has also jumped in the fray; he’ll run the No. 21 Chevrolet.
Saturday’s 45-lap event will have a competition caution period after the only round of pit stops is done. Scheduled for around laps 28-31, it will last three laps and cars will line up single-file on the restart.
A 10-minute qualifying period will set the starting lineup before the race. All cars will use the same setup.
