Chase Elliott Wins Pole for FanShield 500 at Phoenix Raceway

Chase Elliott will start from the pole position for the NASCAR Cup Series race at Phoenix Raceway on Sunday, March 8. Elliott won the pole with a speed of 138.116 miles per hour on Saturday afternoon for his ninth career pole.

Elliott will start alongside Kevin Harvick on the front row. Denny Hamlin will start third with Kyle Larson and points leader Ryan Blaney rounding out the top five.

The remainder of the top 10 has Aric Almirola in sixth,  Kurt Busch in seventh, last week’s winner Alex Bowman in eighth, Matt DiBenedetto in ninth and Xfinity pole winner Kyle Busch 10th.

Two cars will have to start from the rear of the field as Martin Truex Jr.‘s No. 19 changed engines after the second and final practice and John Hunter Nemechek‘s No. 38 car had a radiator change prior to qualifying.

There were 38 cars entered, so no one will miss the race.

The green flag for the FanShield 500 is scheduled for Sunday, March 8, at 3:30 p.m. ET on FOX.
