Robby Lyons will attempt his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut this Saturday at Homestead-Miami Speedway for Rick Ware Racing and Mike Harmon Racing, driving the team’s No. 17 Chevrolet, Kickin’ the Tires reports.
“I can’t really put into words how much this weekend means,” Lyons told Kickin’ the Tires. “It’s been a long, difficult year both in racing and personally. My goals for the weekend are to just make all the laps, stay out of trouble and out of the picture. I’d say a top-20 finish would be a big accomplishment.”
Lyons has made 12 starts over the course of his NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series career, his lone appearance of 2019 a 30th-place effort at Daytona International Speedway for Chad Finley Racing.
His best NASCAR finish came in his Truck Series debut at ISM Raceway in 2017, finishing 12th.
With 39 drivers entered at Homestead, Lyons will have to qualify his way into the field in order to make his series debut.
The Ford Ecoboost 300 will get going shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16.
