Action Express Racing’s Felipe Nasr was once again quickest overall in the final WeatherTech SportsCar Championship practice of the 2019 season Friday (Oct. 11). Nasr’s lap at 133.647 mph is the quickest lap of the weekend to this point.
Nasr’s lap was six-tenths of a second faster than Acura Team Penske’s Ricky Taylor. Filipe Albuquerque was third quickest in the second Action Express Cadillac. Wayne Taylor Racing’s Renger van der Zande made it three Cadillacs in the top four, while Mazda Team Joest’s Timo Bernhard was fifth. LMP2 saw Gabriel Aubry sweep the practice sessions for the weekend. His lap at 128.411 mph was two-tenths of a second faster than Kyle Masson.
Given how the weekend has gone to this point, it wouldn’t be a practice session without a red flag. The one stoppage in the final practice came when Misha Goikhberg spun and got his Cadillac DPi-V.R. stuck in the gravel in the chicane. The car was not damaged, but it is the third spin of the weekend for the No. 85.
GT Le Mans saw Risi Competizione’s James Calado go fastest with a lap at 120.702 mph, the best GTLM lap of the weekend. Calado’s lap was nearly a half-second faster than BMW Team RLL’s Philipp Eng. Ford Chip Ganassi Racing IMSA’s Richard Westbrook was third quickest, followed by Corvette Racing’s Antonio Garcia. Garcia turned that lap despite spinning in turn 10 through the gravel trap. Colton Herta was fifth in the second BMW.
GT Daytona was once again topped by Turner Motorsport, but this time, it was Robby Foley who was fastest. Foley’s lap at 115.073 mph was six-hundredths of a second faster than Scuderia Corsa’s Toni Vilander. Montaplast by Land-Motorsport’s Ricardo Feller was third fastest in the Audi, while Riley Motorsports’ Jeroen Bleekemolen was fourth. Magnus Racing’s Andy Lally was fifth.
