According to police (via FOX Sports), Dippel was caught speeding in Wallkill, N.Y., which is the driver’s hometown, on Aug. 18. When Dippel’s vehicle was searched by police following the stop, state police found amphetamine and dextroamphetamine in a pill bottle that was prescribed to someone other than Dippel and his passenger.
Troopers say Dippel was traveling in excess of 80mph when he was pulled over. They say Dippel and his passenger had different stories on where they were coming from and where they were going.
Troopers say Dippel gave verbal consent to search the vehicle.

According to FOX Sports, Dippel has a court date in Middletown, N.Y., set for Wednesday, Aug. 28.
“This is an ongoing investigation,” Young’s Motorsports, Dippel’s Gander Outdoors Truck Series owner, told FOX Sports in a statement. “We continue to support Tyler and cooperate with authorities and NASCAR.”
FOX Sports also confirmed that Dippel was previously charged with a misdemeanor of reckless driving in Virginia earlier this March.

NASCAR suspended Dippel on Aug. 23, with the reason given for the suspension given as “actions detrimental to stock car racing” and “a violation of the sport’s code of conduct.”
DJ Kennington was the replacement driver of the No. 02 Chevrolet at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Young’s Motorsports has not, however announced a replacement driver for the remaining races of this Truck Series season, should Dippel be unable to compete.
Dippel is in his rookie season in the Truck Series. He has one top-five finish, three top 10s finishes and is currently 13th in the championship standings.
