Kyle Weatherman Making Cup Start For Rick Ware Racing

Kyle Weathermnan will be going racing in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series this weekend in the FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway.

He will become the latest driver of the Rick Ware Racing No. 51, following Cody Ware, BJ McLeod, Jeb Burton, Gray Gaulding and Bayley Currey. The car will be a Ford Mustang, painted in the Flying Tigers design with sponsorship from Jacob Companies.

“Really excited and blessed to have the opportunity to drive the [No.] 51,” Weatherman tweeted Wednesday night (June 5).

Weatherman is also scheduled to drive the No. 74 in the NASCAR Xfinity Series in Saturday’s LTi Printing 250 for Mike Harmon Racing.

Weatherman has nine previous MENCS starts, all since 2017. Two of those starts came for RWR in the No. 51, and the rest for StarCom Racing. His best Cup finish is 26th at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The RWR No. 51 is 34th in the MENCS owner standings with 74 points, they also field the No. 52 full time, and an open No. 53 debuted during the Monster Energy All-Star Race/Coca-Cola 600 stopover at Charlotte Motor Speedway and will run seven to eight races.
