For the second straight superspeedway race, JR. Motorsports will be having a fresh face behind the wheel.
Sheldon Creed, a regular in the Gander Outdoor Truck Series, will be making his Xfinity Series debut at Daytona International Speedway for JR Motorsports in the Firecracker 250 at Daytona International Speedway on July 5.
Creed, the reigning ARCA Series champion, will be driving the No. 8 car and will be sponsored by Chevrolet Accessories and Drivers Edge Development.
“This opportunity presented itself through the Drivers Edge Development program and the relationship between JRM and GMS,” Creed said. “I couldn’t be more thrilled at the chance to run an Xfinity car at Daytona. It’s one of those races where absolutely anything can happen, and it’s going to be fun being part of the action in JRM’s No. 8 car.”
There have been multiple drivers that have driven the No. 8 car this year, including Chase Elliott in the season opener, Ryan Preece, Zane Smith, Jeb Burton, Ryan Truex and Brett Moffitt. Team owner Dale Earnhardt Jr. will be behind the wheel of the car at Darlington Raceway Labor Day Weekend.
The No. 8 car has recorded two top five’s this season, with Truex finishing second at ISM Raceway and Burton finishing fifth at Texas Motor Speedway.
