Four Teams Fail Pre-Race Inspection At Dover; Matt Tifft To Serve Pass-Through Penalty

Four teams failed pre-race inspection multiple times Sunday (May 5) at the Dover International Speedway. The No. 19 Toyota, No. 37 Chevrolet, and No. 88 Chevrolet all failed pre-race inspection twice, while the No. 36 Ford failed pre-race inspection three times.

As per the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Rule Book, all four have had crew members ejected; race engineers for the No. 19, No. 36, and No. 88, car chief for the No. 47.

Drivers Martin Truex Jr., Ryan Preece, and Alex Bowman have lost their starting positions and have lost 15 minutes of practice time next week at Kansas Speedway. Due to his team failing pre-race inspection three times, Matt Tifft has lost his starting position, those 15 minutes of practice time at Kansas, and will have to serve a pass-through penalty at the start of the Dover race.

For those of you participating in regular fantasy or daily fantasy competitions, take note that these four drivers will fall to the rear during the pace laps. Their original qualifying positions will be their starting positions of note.
