If the two morning practice sessions are any indication, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series may have to go through GMS Racing.
Practice No. 1
2016 series champion Johnny Sauter led the opening practice session with a lap at 170.465 mph on his very first lap of the day. Sauter’s lap was six-hundredths of a second faster than ThorSport Racing’s Grant Enfinger, Championship 4 contender Brett Moffitt was third quickest, followed by Jesse Little and Harrison Burton. Championship 4 contender Justin Haley was sixth, then Ross Chastain, Chris Windom, Matt Crafton and Todd Gilliland rounded out the top 10. Championship 4 contender Noah Gragson was 11th quickest.
Gragson had the best 10-lap average in the first session at 163.481 mph, a speed good enough for 20th on the overall speed chart. Gilliland was second best with John Hunter Nemechek and Creed trailing.

Practice No. 2
In the final session, held in warmer conditions, Haley led with a lap at 167.141 mph. That lap was half a tenth of a second faster than Gragson. Burton was third fastest, followed by Sheldon Creed and Windom.
Stewart Friesen, Ben Rhodes, Enfinger, Tyler Dippel and Gilliland rounded out the top 10 speeds in the second session. Moffitt was 16th quickest while Sauter was back in 20th.
Crafton had the best 10-lap average in the second session, followed by Burton, Dippel, Nemechek and Gilliland. Moffitt had the 12th-best 10-lap average.
