Kyle Larson Wins Fourth Career Pole for XFINITY Race at Chicago

Though the speed wasn’t there for Kyle Larson during yesterday’s practice sessions, he posted the fastest lap during the final round of qualifying to earn his fourth career pole in the XFINITY Series. Larson turned a 173.796-mph lap to put his No. 42 ENEOS Chevrolet Camaro on top during the final round. Tyler Reddick gave Larson a run for his money during the final minutes of the final round but had to settle for the outside front row.

Iowa pole-sitter Austin Cindric will start the race from third while Daniel Suarez and Paul Menard rounded out the top five speeds.

Brandon Jones will start the Overton’s 300 from sixth and Matt Tifft in seventh. Elliott Sadler, Chase Elliott, Daniel Hemric, and Christopher Bell will start in positions eight through 11th. Cole Custer failed to turn a lap during the final round due to a flat right front tire. He will have to start from the rear of the field after the team changes that tire.

Iowa winner Justin Allgaier qualified 18th, it’s only the second time this season that Allgaier qualified outside the top 15 (Pocono: 19th and Atlanta: 17th).

Since 42 cars were entered in Saturday’s race, Mike Harmon and Morgan Shepherd failed to qualify for the Overton’s 300.

Starting Lineup for the Overton’s 300 at Chicagoland

The first NBC Countdown to Green of the season will go live on NBCSN at 3 p.m./ET. The Overton’s 300 itself will go live on NBCSN at 3:30 p.m./ET.
