Christopher Bell showed up to Chicagoland Speedway with a super fast car Friday. The car unloaded off the truck fast and it showed in both of Friday’s (June 29th) practices in advance of Saturday’s Overton’s 300.
The No. 20 Rheem Toyota Camry rolled off the truck with great speed topping the day’s first practice session. Bell turned a 172.364-mph lap in the first session to top the speed charts. Iowa pole-sitter Austin Cindric came home in second during that session. His lap was 0.109-seconds slower than first place Bell.
Tyler Reddick finished the session in third while Chase Briscoe and Matt Tifft rounded out the top-five speeds.
37 of the 42 cars turned a lap during the session with Cindric turning the most laps at 41 while Jeremy Clements and BJ McLeod turned the least amount of laps at two apiece.
There was a 2.542-second margin between first place Bell and last place Josh Bilicki.
First Practice Speeds from Chicagoland
Bell again turned in a dominating performance during the second session of the day. Bell turned a 173.790-mph lap during the second session, just 1.426-mph faster than in the first session. Daniel Suarez finished the session in second in his return to the XFINITY Series. It’s his first start in the XFINITY Series since the season opener at Daytona. Suarez turned a 172.123-mph lap.
Paul Menard finished the session in third while Cole Custer and Matt Tifft rounded out the top-five speeds.
41 of the 42 cars entered turned a lap during the session with Daniel Hemric turning the most laps at 48 while Josh Bilicki and BJ McLeod turned the least amount of laps at two apiece.
There was a 2.976-second margin between first place Bell and last place Josh Bilicki.

Qualifying for Saturday’s Overton’s 300 will go live on NBCSN at 12:30 p.m./ET. NASCAR XFINITY Countdown to Green goes live on NBCSN at 3 p.m./ET with the race going live at 3:30 p.m./ET.
