Daniel Hemric has had quite the past eight days. One week ago, Hemric made his Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series debut at Richmond Raceway, and Saturday afternoon (April 28), he won the pole award for the NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Talladega Superspeedway.
Hemric’s speed of 189.402 mph was enough to earn the top spot, marking his second pole of the season and third of his career.
Last week’s Dash 4 Cash winner and former Talladega winner Elliott Sadler (188.775 mph) qualified second, but will have to start the race at the tail of the field because the team changed engines before qualifying.
Spencer Gallagher (188.645 mph), John Hunter Nemechek (188.467 mph) and Michael Annett (188.452 mph) rounded out the top five.
Sadler’s D4C competitors this week, Matt Tifft (187.375 mph), Austin Cindric (187.313 mph) and Christopher Bell (186.729 mph) will start 10th, 11th and 13th.
