Two-time defending Zippo 200 winner Joey Logano led the way in final XFINITY Series practice at Watkins Glen International.
The No. 12 car paced the field at 121.948 mph, over three-tenths of a second ahead of Kyle Busch (121.412 mph). Logano turned 10 laps, tied for the fewest among the top 22 drivers on the speed chart.
Brad Keselowski was third on the board (121.124 mph), while Ryan Reed was the first XFINITY Series regular in fourth (120.617 mph) and former road course winner Paul Menard rounded out the top five (120.516 mph).
Kyle Larson, Kevin Harvick, Erik Jones, Daniel Hemric and Justin Allgaier filled out the rest of the top 10.
There were three incidents in the 55-minute session, the first coming when Stephen Young came to a halt on the racetrack. The No. 78 team turned 23 circuits, the most of the 41 drivers that turned a lap in the session.
The other two stoppages came when Dylan Lupton drove straight into Turn 10. It’s undetermined whether he lost his brakes or just missed the corner, but the No. 24 car was stopped into the gravel pit. The final incident was for debris.
Qualifying for Saturday’s event is scheduled to get under way at 11:05 a.m. ET. Logano led 67 of the 82 laps last season.
