Entry List: Pirelli World Challenge at Mid-Ohio

This weekend, Pirelli World Challenge’s GT, GTA, GT Cup, GTS and GTSA classes will take on the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on the undercard of the Verizon IndyCar Series’ Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio.  42 entries have been filed.

In GT, there are a couple of changes of note.  Pierre Kaffer is not in Magnus Racing’s No. 4 Audi this weekend due to responsibilities at the Total 24 Hours of Spa in Belgium.  Spencer Pumpelly will race the No. 4 in his place.  Since Pumpelly is Kaffer’s co-driver for the Sprint-X events, he is already quite familiar with the team.

Dream Racing Motorsport has entered their No. 27 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 for Cedric Sbirrazzuoli.  However, the team has entered the car in multiple races this season only to not put the car on track.  It will be a wait and see scenario to see whether Sbirrazzuoli will actually race.

R. Ferri Motorsport is back with their No. 61 Ferrari for the first time since Canadian Tire Motorsports Park in May.  At CTMP, Alex Riberas crashed the No. 61 in qualifying, which forced a withdrawal.  Riberas will not be in the car this weekend.  Instead, Kyle Marcelli, who raced for the team in the Sprint-X races at VIR in April will drive.  The team’s GTA entry for Marc Muzzo is not entered.

There are a number of teams that are not entered this week. The biggest absence from the entry list are the two Absolute Racing Bentley Continental GT3s, normally driven by Yufeng Luo and Adderly Fong.  No reason for the absence has been given.  The K-PAX Racing No. 98 for Mike Hedlund, as noted in Pace Laps on Monday, has been parked for the rest of the year.  Also, the MCC Motorsports Mercedes of Alexandre Negrao is not entered.

In GTS, a total of 18 entries have been filed.  In reality, its really 17.

PF Racing has entered the No. 40 Ford Mustang GT4 twice.  It will be split between Ernie Francis Jr. and team owner James Pesek.  When Pesek drives, the car will compete in the GTSA class.  Francis, the current points leader in the Trans-Am Series presented by Pirelli’s premiere TA class, will race in the GTS class.

Case-It Racing is down to just one entry for team owner Adam Merzon.  Cameron Cassels will sit the weekend out.  Ian Lacy Racing’s Ginettas are not entered, nor is the NolaSport Porsche.
