Kyle Busch Paces Final Cup Practice at New Hampshire

Kyle Busch followed up his XFINITY Series pole effort with a Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series final practice win Saturday afternoon. Busch’s fastest lap of 29.086 seconds, with a speed of 130.950 mph, was enough to best Martin Truex Jr. by .085 seconds.

Truex will be starting on the pole for the Overton’s 301 on Sunday, his first of 2017. Kyle Larson was the original winner of the Coors Light Pole Award, but his time was disallowed after failing post-qualifying inspection. Larson posted a final practice time of 29.183 seconds, which was good for fourth fastest.

Denny Hamlin ranked third in his backup car (29.171 seconds), and Chase Elliott (29.192 seconds) rounded out the top five.

Matt Kenseth, who is looking for his third win in four New Hampshire races, was ninth fastest (29.236 seconds).

Brad Keselowski (29.275 seconds) ran a practice high 54 laps, while both Gray Gaulding and Ryan Sieg did not record a lap.

The green flag for the Overton’s 301 is set to fly at 3:00 p.m. ET on Sunday.
