Kyle Benjamin Fastest In 1st XFINITY Series Practice at Iowa

Kyle Benjamin is picking up from where he left off at Pocono Raceway two weeks ago. The rookie went to the top of the scoring pylon at Iowa Speedway early Friday afternoon, setting the pace at 23.966 seconds prior to the Ethanol E15 250.

The Joe Gibbs Racing driver is coming off a pole award in his second career NASCAR XFINITY Series start at Pocono before finishing 16th after leading 28 laps. He topped teammate and fellow rookie Matt Tifft, who clocked in a time 0.058 seconds slower than the No. 18 Toyota.

Rookie Tyler Reddick, driving for Chip Ganassi Racing, had the best 10-lap average out of six cars to run 10 laps in a row.

Brandon Jones, Sam Hornish Jr. and Reddick rounded out the top five. Hornish held the top speed for the majority of practice, making his return to XFINITY Series competition with Team Penske in the No. 22 car.
