Chase Elliott Fastest in Second Phoenix Practice

Chase Elliott topped the charts in the second practice for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at Phoenix International Raceway, held from noon to 12:55 p.m. ET.

Elliott’s best lap speed was 135.977 miles per hour and his best lap time was a 26.475. The No. 24 Chevrolet took first place in the opening practice on Friday and will go for the practice sweep with Happy Hour at 2:30 p.m. ET.

Polesitter Joey Logano (135.466 mph) came in second place and Kyle Larson (135.323 mph) took third.

Last week’s winner Martin Truex Jr. (135.206 mph) finished practice in fourth place and Brad Keselowski (135.171 mph) rounded out the top five.

Truex posted the best 10-lap average in the practice with a 134.525 mph average speed. Elliott (134.431) had the second best 10-lap average.

Eight-time Phoenix winner Kevin Harvick (135.089 mph) took sixth place in the practice.

All 39 entries for the Camping World 500(k) competed in the practice session. The race is scheduled for Sunday at 3:30 p.m. ET on FOX.
