The third race of the 2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season will also be the first of the annual NASCAR Goes West campaign. Las Vegas Motor Speedway will play host for the Kobalt 400, where last week’s winner, Brad Keselowski, is the defending winner.
For the second straight week, less than 40 cars are entered to fill the field on Sunday. Thirty-nine teams have been entered and will be guaranteed starting spots, for Sunday afternoon’s race, barring any entry list changes.
The 39-car field contains all the usual suspects, with a few new faces. Timmy Hill will drive the No. 51 Chevrolet for Rick Ware Racing in his first MENCS start of the season, Derrike Cope will drive the No. 55 for Premium Motorsports for the second race in a row with Reed Sorenson piloting the No. 15.
Other notable changes for the week include some new sponsors. Kevin Harvick will have Mobil 1 on the No. 4 this weekend, Trevor Bayne will have Performance Plus Motor Oil, Chris Buescher will have Natural Light and Michael McDowell will have WRL General Contractors on the No. 95 Chevrolet.
The Kobalt 400 can be seen on FOX, with the green flag being scheduled to fly just past 3:30 p.m. ET. Qualifying will be held on Friday evening from the 1.5-mile tri-oval.
