Chase Elliott, making his first Camping World Truck Series start since 2013, has won the pole for the Texas Roadhouse 200 at Martinsville Speedway.
Returning to the series and track that started his national NASCAR career, Elliott turned a lap of 19.673 seconds (96.254 mph) to beat second-place Daniel Suarez by 0.068 of a second for his second career pole.
Completing the top 5 were two non-Chasers of Cole Custer and Tyler Reddick along with Chaser Johnny Sauter.
Christopher Bell, William Byron, Cameron Hayley, Matt Tifft and Kaz Grala complete the top 10.
Saturday will mark the beginning of the Round of 6, where the Chase field will be shortened to four come three weeks at Homestead-Miami Speedway. A win at Martinsville would guarantee a championship shot for any active Chaser.
Six drivers will make their series debuts with Harrison Burton topping the half-dozen from the 16th starting spot.
With 36 trucks attempting to qualify, Brad Foy, Casey Smith, Kyle Soper and Donnie Levister did not make the show. Foy added insult to injury when he spun and hit the wall with just under two minutes remaining in the first round of qualifying.
