Johnny Sauter On Pole For Friday Night Truck Race At Texas

Johnny Sauter completed a lap of 180.024 mph on Friday afternoon and won the pole for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race on Friday night.

It’s the first pole for the Wisconsin driver since 2013, which also came at the June race at Texas. It is his fifth overall and third in the Lone Star State.

Starting next to Sauter will be German Quiroga, who is making his first NASCAR national series start since losing his full time truck ride in 2014. Quiroga, who is in the No. 11 Toyota for Red Horse Racing, is on the hunt for his first win in the Truck series. The Mexico City driver’s best finish at Texas was third back in 2013.

Brad Keselowski Racing driver Daniel Hemric will start third as he hopes to gain ground on points leader Matt Crafton, who starts right next to Hemric in fourth. Crafton will be looking to make it three wins in a row for himself and his No. 88 Thorsport Racing Toyota. Hemric’s teammate Tyler Reddick rounded out the top 5.

Crafton was also the fastest in the first round of qualifying.

Jennifer Jo Cobb and Norm Benning were the two drivers who did not qualify this week.
