Sprint Cup Series TV ratings have been on a steady decline nearly three months into the 2016 season. However, this past Sunday’s GEICO 500 defied the trend as for the first time this year, overnight ratings were not down.
According to Sports Media Watch, the race scored a 3.8 Nielsen rating, which is even from the event last May.
The race came in second for sporting events over the weekend, trailing the NBA playoff game featuring the Golden State Warriors and Portland Trail Blazers on ABC that scored a 5.0 rating.
Beginning this weekend at Kansas Speedway, four of the remaining five regular season races for NASCAR on FOX this season will be broadcasted on FOX Sports 1. The final event on FOX this season will be the Coca Cola 600 on Memorial Day weekend.
