For more than two hours, Xfinity Series teams ran laps and tweaked their cars for Saturday’s O’Reilly Auto Parts Challenge, and when the only practice session for the series ended, Austin Dillon sat atop the leaderboard with a fast lap of 184.363 mph, a speed he set on the first lap out on the track. Brad Keselowski was second quickest, followed by Erik Jones. Regan Smith and Daniel Suarez rounded out the top five.
Kyle Busch posted the sixth quickest time, followed by Darrell Wallace Jr. in seventh. Kevin Harvick, Ty Dillon and defending champion Chase Elliott rounded out the top 10. Points leader Chris Buescher ran 12th quickest in the session.
The session was slowed briefly after multiple reports of oil on the track. Though safety officials never found any indications of a hazard on the track, they were thorough in ensuring all areas had been checked before letting drivers back out onĀ at full speed.
NXS drivers will qualify Saturday morning at 11:15 a.m. local time. The O’Reilly Auto Parts Challenge will run at 2:30 p.m. local time.
