In the spotlight this week: 16-time NHRA Funny Car champion John Force
What’s fun besides racing?
Force: Racing with my granddaughter Autumn with the Junior dragster. Don’t get to do it much. Me and Robert [Hight], her Dad, we love to do it. And I love the movies but who doesn’t?
What’s the top item on your bucket list?
Force: Win another championship, and a whole bunch after that, and see my kids win a championship and my son-in-law Robert Hight. That’s what the sponsors pay us for and that’s what we live to do.
Your go-to on movie night is:
Force: Well I saw my first, not my first zMAX, or IMAX, whatever they call it, but I saw Mad Max and I saw it in three dimensional. It was unbelievable. Spears were going at you, wheels, tires. Never seen nothing like it. Saw it right in Charlotte.
What’s one item that’s always in your grocery bag?
Force: Toothpaste. You got me! I was going to say champagne… let me answer that again. I don’t shop. If I go, I go get toothpaste and dental floss and a can of Monster energy. I don’t know. I love it. It’s what I do. My Muscle Milk they call it, but it’s muscle energy. I love it. No it’s Monster Muscle. Muscle Monster. Let’s get it right! Right before I hit the gym.
Most memorable fan interaction?
Force: A fan walked up one time at a race, I think it was at Topeka, with the biggest, ugliest pig. I don’t mean to say pigs are ugly, but this pig was just… awesome! They wanted me to sign it, but he wasn’t going for it. I think he peed on me and everything, but I got him signed. That was probably the weirdest thing I ever did.
