Mason Mingus to Make Xfinity Series Debut at Chicagoland

Mason Mingus will make his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut on Saturday at Chicagoland Speedway behind the wheel of the No. 97 Obaika Racing Chevrolet Camaro.

“This was an arrangement that came together very quickly, but I’m really excited about making my Xfinity Series debut,” Mingus said. “I drove for (Obaika Racing general manager) Kevin Cywinski at Win-Tron Racing last year and enjoyed working with him, so I jumped at the opportunity when he called.”

Mingus is a native from Nashville who currently races in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series with Billy Boat Motorsports. Mingus has taken the No. 15 “Call 811 Before You Dig” Chevrolet to one top-10 finish in 13 Camping World Truck Series starts this season. The 20-year old driver will race double duty at the 1.5-mile oval this weekend.

The racing team, started earlier this season, has fielded numerous drivers throughout the year. Mingus will be guided around the track by crew chief John Monsam on the No. 97 pit box.
